The Chief Imam of the Bole Traditional Area, Alhaji Mohammed Iddrisu, has officially placed a ban on extravagant Islamic weddings in his jurisdiction.

The directive takes effect from Wednesday, March 5, 2025.

In a statement issued after several consultations with the Islamic clergy, the Chief Imam cited concerns over increasing financial burdens that prevent many young Muslims from getting married.

Alhaji Mohammed Iddrisu emphasized that the decision aligns with Islamic teachings and aims to curb excessive spending on wedding ceremonies, which has discouraged many young people from fulfilling the important religious duty of marriage.
