Renowned private legal practitioner, Martin Kpebu, has voiced his commitment to defending former Deputy Executive Director of the National Service Authority, Gifty Oware, if the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) fails to adhere to the 48-hour detention rule.
Speaking in an interview on FM, Kpebu emphasized the need to uphold due process, stating that every citizen must be concerned about potential violations of individual rights. "If the NIB breaches the 48-hour rule, I will be happy to represent Gifty Oware.
As citizens, we all must jump in because we don't know what could happen tomorrow," he declared.
He further stressed that while he supports justice taking its course, detaining her beyond the legally permitted timeframe would be unjust. "The fact that I want her to face justice doesn't mean we should keep her beyond 48 hours.
