Robert Yaw Amankwah, a former Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, (NPP), has described the delegate system in parliamentary primaries as utterly useless and unsustainable.

In his estimation, the clear display of extreme greed among delegates is unhealthy and has a direct impact on voter psyche during general elections.

He made this assertion during an interview with Okay FM on March 7, 2025, while discussing issues he believes contributed to the abysmal performance of the NPP in the 2024 Election. "The penchant of delegates flaunting financial benefits irks some electorates.

Now, they also expect to be financially motivated before they go out to vote. "Last year, I had to personally go house to house to beg people to come out and vote.
