Residents of Seikwa, a farming community in the Tain District of the Bono Region, have been left in shock and sorrow after a 36-year-old illegal miner, Charles Gyan, allegedly took his own life.
Gyan, popularly known as 'Teacher Kwadwo,' was found hanging from a tree with a rope tied around his neck in the early hours of Friday, 7 March 2025.
According to a GNA report, the deceased was a trained teacher who had abandoned the profession to engage in illegal mining at Hani, a nearby village.
Mr Seth Boamah, the Assembly Member for the Brofoyedu Electoral Area, told GNA that before his death, Gyan had informed his son that he was travelling and had handed him a bag for safekeeping. "The deceased returned from Hani to Seikwa only yesterday," Mr Boamah said, adding that police have since transported the body to the morgue as investigations continue.
