Tragedy struck on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, in Konongo Odumase in the Ashanti Region when a fire outbreak engulfed a shop dealing in mining explosives.
According to the Ghana National Fire Service, the fire began as a commercial fire opposite a herbal shop known as Barika Herbal and quickly spread to nearby houses.
A shop dealing in mining explosives located near the origin of the fire also caught flames, and the rapid spread of the blaze caused the explosives to detonate, resulting in significant damage.
Here is what we know so far since the fire incident: Casualties Three civilians, a woman, and two men, have been reported dead after succumbing to their injuries from the explosion.
