Kwame Asare Obeng (Kwame A Plus), the Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, has dismissed claims that President John Dramani Mahama's recent State of the Nation Address (SONA) address was filled with complaints, arguing that he was merely echoing the struggles already voiced by Ghanaians. "I've heard my colleagues say the President came to lament, but even if he did, he only continued the lamentation of the previous government," he stated.
He recalled that even lawmakers from the former NPP government once held a press conference, urging Nana Akufo-Addo to sack the then Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta due to the country's economic woes. "It was not just Members of Parliament who were lamenting.
The people of Ghana showed their frustration through their votes, giving the worst electoral result ever recorded in the Fourth Republic," he added.
Obeng noted that Mahama's address reflected what the ordinary Ghanaian had been saying all along. "The President could only join in what everybody was already saying," he emphasized.
