President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama has emphasized that the decision to scale down the celebration of Independence Day has saved Ghana a lot of money.
This year's celebration cost the country Ghc 1.5 million as against Ghc 20 million, which would have been spent if the celebration took place at the Independence Square.
He holds the view that scaling down the celebration in no way takes away the essence of the celebrations.
Indicating that he was brought back to ensure modesty and prudence in handling the resources of the country.
