A group of unidentified gunmen reportedly invaded the residence of former Hohoe Member of Parliament, John Peter Amewu, on Wednesday, March 5.
According to Amewu, one of the assailants, who claimed to be a bailiff, stated that they were acting on "orders from above." The group allegedly insisted that Amewu was not legitimately elected as an MP in the 2020 elections.
At the time of the incident, Amewu was not at home.
The situation escalated when the gunmen fired warning shots, prompting a confrontation with some of Amewu's supporters.
