The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr.
Frank Amoakohene, has inaugurated a 17-member ministerial committee with the goal of reviving the regions's declining Kumawood film industry.
The committee, chaired by Bishop Ofori-Adu has been tasked with creating a strategic framework to revitalize the industry and provide long-term employment opportunities for players in the industry.
Also, the committee is expected to assessing the current state of the industry and identifying key challenges, developing policies to attract investment and ensure sustainable growth, explore strategies to promote Ghanaian films both locally and internationally and strengthen film infrastructure by improving production facilities and training opportunities. Additionally, the Minister charged the committee to enhance film festivals and cultural showcases to celebrate Ghanaian storytelling and creativity and foster collaboration between stakeholders to create more opportunities for filmmakers, actors, and creatives.
