Deputy Finance Minister-designate, Thomas Nyarko Ampem, has reaffirmed that the government has no plans to introduce new taxes in the upcoming budget, countering claims made by the Minority.
The Minority had alleged that the government intended to impose additional taxes to generate approximately 200 billion cedis this year.
Addressing these concerns, Nyarko Ampem emphasized that the government's strategy will focus on strengthening tax compliance and widening the tax base rather than imposing fresh levies. "The Finance Minister has said this many times-we do not need to introduce new taxes to rake in more revenue.
We are going to broaden the tax base.
