John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has vowed to launch an uncompromising campaign against corruption if elected. Speaking at the NDC 2024 Manifesto launch at the University of Education, Winneba, Mahama outlined his administration's commitment to prohibiting politically exposed persons, political appointees, and public officials from purchasing state assets. Mahama emphasized that this policy would extend to his own family, ensuring that neither he, his wife, nor his children would be allowed to acquire state assets due to their political status. This move, he argued, is essential to restoring public trust and ensuring transparency in government dealings. "We will embark on a ruthless war against corruption," Mahama declared, adding "We will prohibit politically exposed persons, political appointees, and public officials from purchasing state assets. So, it's not only me who cannot buy state assets, my wife and children cannot buy state assets because they are political persons." He highlighted the need for stringent measures to combat corruption and prevent the misuse of public resources.
