The International Transport Workers' Federation (ITF) has extended congratulations to Ing.
Frank Kofi Apeagyei on his election as President of the ATSEP Federation and the Executive Board of the International Federation of Air Traffic Safety Electronics Associations (IFATSEA).
In a letter dated March 4, 2025, and signed by Bilal Malkawi, Acting Civil Aviation and Tourism Services Sections Secretary at ITF, the federation reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening collaboration with IFATSEA, recognizing the vital role of Air Traffic Safety Electronics Personnel (ATSEPs) in global aviation. "On behalf of the ITF Civil Aviation Section, I would like to extend my warmest congratulations to you and the IFATSEA Executive Board on your election and continued leadership," Malkawi stated.
The ITF underscored the long-standing partnership between the two organizations, built on the principles of "solidarity, workers' rights, and the unwavering commitment to defending aviation workers in the face of mounting challenges." The letter highlighted the increasing pressure aviation workers, particularly ATSEPs, face due to "technological changes, staffing shortages, and the wider impact of geopolitical and economic turbulence on the industry." Despite these challenges, ITF and IFATSEA have worked "side by side to push back against these threats and advocate for the recognition of ATSEPs' crucial contribution to the aviation system." Malkawi also emphasized the need for continued cooperation to ensure that ATSEPs' work is fully recognized across the industry. "It is essential that we keep on working together to build a stronger, more united voice for aviation workers-one that not only protects jobs, conditions, and rights but also ensures that the essential work of ATSEPs is fully recognised across the industry," he said.
