Renowned actress and former Executive Secretary of the National Film Authority (NFA), Juliet Asante, has opened up about the difficulties, lack of support, and harassment she faced while leading the institution.
In an emotional social media post, Asante revealed that she was handed the position without an office, a team, or a vehicle to facilitate her work. "With a paper in hand, but no office or money, I set out to recruit staff," she recalled.
According to her, in the first year, the NFA was only given 1,000 Ghana cedis ($100) for the entire year, and even when funding increased to 10,000 Ghana cedis ($1,000) in the second year, neither she nor her staff received salaries for two years.
