General Secretary of the General Agriculture Workers Union (GAWU) Edward Kareweh has urged President Mahama to provide specific timelines for implementing the small-scale poultry (nkoko nkitinkiti) policy.
President Mahama, in his first State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Thursday, February 27, 2025, stressed that his government is committed to implementing "nkoko nkitinkiti" programme to reduce the $300 million the country spends on the importation of chicken annually.
Speaking to 3FM, Edward Kareweh stated "This is a laudable policy but the question one will ask is, is it going to be done under one year, two years or three years or four years?
But we assume that this needs to be done within four years," he questioned.
