Ghanaian right-back Tariq Lamptey was given his marching orders in Brighton's hard-fought FA Cup fifth-round victory over Newcastle United.

The Ghanaian fullback, who has been Brighton's standout performer in recent weeks, received his second yellow card of the game for a reckless challenge on Newcastle winger Jacob Murphy, leaving his team to navigate the remaining minutes with a numerical disadvantage.

In a frenetic opening to the match, the hosts conceded a penalty, which Swedish forward Alexander Isak coolly converted in the 22nd minute.

However, Brighton and Hove Albion drew level 22 minutes later, courtesy of a strike from Gambian star Yankubah Minteh.
