With the dry season upon Ghana, Elder Thomas Kwabena Bonsu, Executive Director for Fire and Bush Burning Advocacy, is calling on citizens to be extra vigilant regarding fire safety and waste management to protect their homes and communities.
Elder Bonsu stressed the critical importance of electrical safety, advising residents to always switch off all electrical appliances before leaving their homes. "Fire will not spare you when you mistakenly create the path for it," he warned.
For those in rural areas, he emphasized the need to completely extinguish any fires used on farms, particularly in cocoa-growing regions, and to strictly avoid smoking before returning from work.
Addressing the issue of waste management, Elder Bonsu strongly discouraged indiscriminate dumping, urging people to dispose of trash properly in designated dustbins.
