The Deputy Minister-designate for Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs, Rita Naa Odoley Sowah has urged government to institute stricter gun control measures at traditional events following a shooting incident at an enskinment ceremony in Nungua which led to the death of one person.
Lawrencia Naa Borley Nelson, also known as Naa Gamu, was being enskinned as Queen of the Ga-Adangme Muslim Union (Nungua West) when she was accidentally shot in the leg by a musketeer.
The incident occurred on February 26, 2025, in Nungua.
Naa Borley Nelson and her husband were being enskinned as queen and chief of the Ga-Adangme Muslim Union's Nungua West branch when the unfortunate event happened.
