Former Deputy Education Minister and Member of Parliament for Assin South, John Ntim Fodjour, has emphasized the need for school authorities to identify and closely monitor students known to regularly foment trouble to prevent clashes.
His statement comes after a clash ensued between some students of Christian Methodist Senior High School and local youth over a missing mobile phone at the school's premises at Aplaku.
Channel One News sources say the students and some of the youth were trading blows and in some instances, clubs were used resulting in some students sustaining injuries while some school properties were also destroyed.
In an interview on Channel One Newroom, the Assin South MP underscored that students who regularly cause trouble must be effectively supervised, stressing that physical punishment, which has been a traditional method of discipline, may not be enough to deal with the bad behavior of today's students.
