President has stated that he is in discussions with the Speaker of Parliament to renew the expired anti-LGBTQ+ bill, which will be reintroduced by the government.

Addressing a gathering of clergymen and government officials during his fellowship with men of God on Friday, February 28, 2025, the president reiterated his support for the bill's implementation.

Acknowledging the need to uphold Christian values and principles regarding the existence of only two genders, President Mahama said that it is only fitting for the government to sponsor the bill, rather than allowing it to be championed as a Private Members' bill.

He emphasised the importance of teaching family values in schools through early education, rather than solely relying on legislation to address the issue. "As a Christian, I uphold the principles and values that only two genders exist, man and woman and that marriage is between a man and woman.
