Executive Council Member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Nana Oduro Sarfo, has admitted that the management of captaincy matters within the Black Stars has been problematic, contributing to instability in the team over the years.

In an interview with Connect 97.1 FM, Oduro Sarfo acknowledged that successive Black Stars management teams have struggled to handle leadership transitions properly, often leading to unnecessary controversies. "Captaincy issues have really caused the Black Stars a lot of bad moments.

They are mostly the coach's decision, but I agree it has been poorly managed over the years," he stated.

The Black Stars have a long history of captaincy disputes, including the 2019 controversy when Andre Ayew replaced Asamoah Gyan as captain ahead of AFCON, creating tensions in the squad.
