During deliberations in Parliament after the State of the Nation address by President John Dramani Mahama, the Minority Leader Afenyo-Markin told the Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin to allow him enough time to make his submission on the address.Afeny-Markin recounted that when Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo delivered his last SONA on January 3, 2023, he was patient to allow the Minority Whip Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah to make all his sub9imissions.To that end, he also urged Speaker Bagbin not to limit him.
The speaker had told Afenyo-Markin that he had one more minute to complete his submission.
This was after Afenyo-Markin had spoken for some time in Parliament."Honourable Minority Leader, you have one more minute."In response, Afenyo-Markin said "Mr Speaker, when Akufo-Addo was here on his last SONA Akufo-Addo, had the patience for Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah to speak, there must be patience for the Minority side, I cannot be limited."But when his one minute was due, the Speaker interjected and moved on with proceedings.Prior to this, Afenyo-Markin told President John Dramani Mahama that at the time that he was complaining about rising youth unemployment, his administration, in less than one hundred days, had sacked a lot of youth who were employed by the previous administration.
