Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Member of Parliament for Ofoase Ayirebi, has stated that the Minority Caucus will only participate in the proposed National Economic Dialogue if the government reinstates  thousands of young workers who have been sacked from public sector jobs.

This statement is in response to President John Dramani Mahama's call for the Minority to participate in the National Economic Dialogue, aimed at evaluating Ghana's economy and building consensus on key policies to tackle the ongoing economic crisis.

The President emphasized that the dialogue would focus on identifying structural reforms and policy priorities necessary to reset the country's economic trajectory.

However, speaking on Eyewitness News on Thursday, February 27, 2025, Oppong Nkrumah stated that the Minority's participation would be conditional, insisting that their involvement hinges on the reinstatement of sacked employees. "We are happy to participate in the National Economic Dialogue if the administration will reinstate the thousands of young people that it has sacked from public sector jobs. "You don't get to sack young people from the jobs that they have been rightly employed to, and say that after you had sacked them, and you are home, you are inviting us to a national economic dialogue.
