Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has questioned the president's approach to governance, arguing that the reduction in ministerial appointments is a mere façade.

Speaking after the president delivered his first State of the Nation Address in Parliament in Accra on Thursday, February 27, Afenyo-Markin noted that the president had no genuine intentions of cutting down on excess or downsizing the government.

Instead, while the government claims credit for appointing fewer ministers, there has been a steady expansion of presidential staffers and committees, further complicating governance rather than streamlining it. "Mr Speaker, the president again says that he has delivered fewer ministers, but it is clear that his strategy is 'if less, more divide.'" "You have appointed few ministers but more and more and more presidential staffers and more and more committees," he said.
