President John Dramani Mahama has urged the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to ensure transparency in the financial management of the senior national team, the Black Stars.
Speaking during his State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Thursday, February 27, he emphasized the need for public disclosure of the Black Stars' budget, given that it is funded by taxpayer money.
His call for accountability comes ahead of the Black Stars' two crucial World Cup qualifying matches in March 2025.
President Mahama revealed that he had instructed his office and the Minister for Sports and Recreation to hold the GFA accountable to the people of Ghana, particularly regarding the budget. "Next month, the senior national team, the Black Stars of Ghana -which is now a pale shadow of its glory- will play two World Cup qualifying matches.
