President John Dramani Mahama has declared that tertiary education for persons with disabilities (PWDs) will now be free.

Speaking during the first State of the Nations Address (SONA) of his second term in office, President Mahama said all persons with disabilities in the country will now access tertiary education without paying any fees.

He announced the initiative as part of his free tertiary education for Level 100 students policy.

While all students will access the first year of university education for free, those with disabilities will enjoy the policy for the entire four years.
