President John Dramani Mahama has revealed that $400 million was spent on the Agenda 111 hospital project under the previous administration, yet not a single facility is fully operational.
Speaking during his State of the Nation Address on Tuesday, February 27, 2025, Mahama criticised the inefficiency in executing the ambitious healthcare initiative, which was meant to construct 111 hospitals across the country. "It is worth disclosing that USD400 million has already been disbursed under the Agenda 111 project, yet not a single hospital under this gargantuan initiative is serving the people of Ghana," he stated.
He further argued that if resources had been utilised efficiently, the amount already spent could have completed and operationalised at least 22 hospitals by now.
Mahama's remarks highlight concerns over the management of funds and project execution, as many Ghanaians continue to face challenges in accessing quality healthcare.
