Mr Richard Asamoah The Construction and Building Material Workers Union has called on the new leadership of the Trades Union Congress (TUC) to strongly engage government for improved wages for workers. General Secretary of the Union, Richard Asamoah, who spoke with our labour affairs correspondent, Daniel Opoku, pleaded with the leadership of TUC to expedite action. "The wages of workers is very low as compared to other countries and again they should look very well at the SSNIT issue." "You see, workers have invested their lives into SSNIT pension and that is where they take whatever when they are leaving and if it should be that workers who have contributed are not told what their monies are being used for, it is going to be a different thing," he warned. Government in 2023 granted 30 percent and in 2024 granted 25 percent salary increment for public sector worker workers.
