The government, through the Ministry of Agriculture, is set to launch the Irrigation for Wealth Creation project under the sub-theme Feed Ghana.
This initiative, a key manifesto promise of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) during the 2024 elections, aims to support irrigation farming by constructing eight new irrigation dams and rehabilitating ten existing but deteriorated dams across selected regions.
Speaking in an interview at Bongo on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, Upper East Regional Minister Donatus Atanga highlighted the project's significance in boosting agricultural productivity.
He revealed that ministers from eight selected regions-Upper East, Upper West, Volta, Central, Oti, Savannah, Northern, and North East-held a meeting with the Minister for Agriculture on Thursday, February 20, 2025, to discuss the project in detail.
