Former Member of Parliament for Sagnarigu, Alhassan Bashir Fuseini, has criticised the former New Patriotic Party (NPP) government for freezing pension funds, claiming the decision led to the deaths of some pensioners who could not afford medical care.

Speaking in an interview with GHOne TV, monitored by Mynewsgh.com, Fuseini condemned the hardship pensioners endured under the previous administration, stating that many who had served the country for decades suffered due to the lack of access to their funds. "President Mahama, in just two months, has already secured a fund with billions of Ghana cedis paid into it.

Meanwhile, pensioners who had worked for four to five decades suffered immensely under the NPP government," he said.

He further lamented the impact of the policy, arguing that it had life-threatening consequences for retirees. "Some of them went through excruciating hardships.
