The Deputy Minister-designate for Roads and Highways, Alhassan Suhuyini, has underscored the need for Ghana to explore alternative funding models for road construction to address the country's growing infrastructure deficit.
During his vetting before Parliament's Appointments Committee, on Wednesday, February 26, Suhuyini expressed concern over the state of roads leading to newly developed real estate properties, highlighting how many remain incomplete due to the country's heavy reliance on government funding. "Roads to those properties remain undone.
And that is why there is a need for us to broaden the conversation around how to fund road construction in this country," he stated.
He suggested that Ghana must reconsider its approach to road financing, hinting at the possibility of integrating private sector participation into road infrastructure development.
