Martin Amidu has urged President John Dramani Mahama to address what he describes as an "economic crime scene" within the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) before tackling irregularities elsewhere.

According to Amidu, the unlawful appointments and payroll violations under William Kissi Agyebeng's tenure at the OSP need urgent attention to establish Mahama's credibility in fighting corruption. "President Mahama, deal with the payroll 'economic crime scene' at the OSP, which made a favourable decision for your benefit first, and establish your credibility to deal with the irregularities at the NEIP and the annulment of all appointments made by former President Akufo-Addo after 7 December 2024," Amidu stated.

Amidu's remarks suggest that Mahama's administration cannot claim to be committed to clean governance while ignoring alleged corruption at the OSP, an institution that was meant to fight corruption itself.

He further stressed that the beginning of Mahama's tenure presents the perfect opportunity to prove that he upholds honour and integrity in governance." "The beginning of President Mahama's tenure is the time for him to reassure Ghanaians of the honour and integrity with which he took the constitutional oath as the President of Ghana," Amidu emphasized.
