The Trades Union Congress (TUC) has demanded that President John Dramani Mahama withdraw the order to nullify any appointments made in the public sector after December 7, 2024.

The appeal is in response to a direction from Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, which directed all heads of government agencies to revoke any public service appointments and recruitments made after the specified date.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, February 25, TUC Secretary-General Joshua Ansah cautioned that the continued dismissal of public servants, especially teachers and nurses who have been waiting years for a job, could have disastrous repercussions. "The mass termination of employment of teachers, nurses, and others, who have been educated at great cost to their families and the nation and who may have stayed at home for years struggling to obtain employment can be devastating for these young men and women.

It is a blot on our democratic credentials.
