Deputy Interior Minister-designate, Ebenezer Okletey Terlabi has said the Ministry will engage private partners to deal with the congestion in the various prisons across the country.
Appearing before the Appointments Committee on Monday, February 24, the Deputy Minister-designate reiterated the earlier suggestion of his yet-to-be boss, the Interior Minister during his vetting who said government will consider an agreement with private sectors to build more prisons for the decongestion in the various prisons. "There's this idea of partnering with private sector to build prisons so that we can rent like it's happening in the US and other places.
We have to look at that," he stated.
Okletey Terlabi also suggested that government will consider engaging the private sector to build more bigger prisons for a relocation to prisons which will freely accommodate prison inmates.
