The Minister of State Designate for Public Sector Reforms, Lydia Akanvariba, has defended her qualifications and experience following public criticism questioning her suitability for the role, stating that leading the country or a ministry is not only about academic qualification but rather the desire to cause a change in your line of work.
She maintained that the president, John Dramani Mahama, had not made a mistake in nominating her as a minister of state.
Her response came after private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu raised concerns about her ability to effectively serve as a minister.
Addressing the issue during her vetting before the Appointments Committee on Monday, Akanvariba emphasized her extensive experience in public service. "When people are in the public domain, others get the right to express their opinion.
