The Deputy Minister-Designate for Finance, Thomas Nyarko Ampem, has confirmed that the government will make provisions in the upcoming budget to cover free admission fees for students entering public universities.
Speaking during his vetting, Nyarko Ampem emphasised the government's commitment to fulfilling its campaign promise of easing the financial burden on students and their families.
This is on the back of the NDC's pledge to implement the free tertiary tuition policy during the 2024 campaign to promote greater access to higher education.
The policy, if successfully implemented, is expected to improve enrollment rates and make higher education more accessible for Ghanaian students.
