Chairman for the Council of State, Edward Doe Adjaho has urged members of the council to uphold their commitment to serving as the advisory body to the President, John Dramani Mahama, for the development of the country.
Reiterating the mandate of the Council, backed by Article 89 of the 1992 Constitution, Adjaho stressed the need to provide sound insight and recommendations to serve the national interest.
He was speaking at an orientation for the Council where he called on the members to play a role that serves the country and not the interest of the political elite. "Let us endeavour to put Ghana first, upholding the law and ensuring genuine care for people must be paramount in our deliberations when we give advice to the president of the republic.
We must speak the truth to those we advise. "Engage leadership and the people, connect with policy decisions to tackle the challenges facing our democracy.
