Colonel Festus Aboagye A Security Expert Colonel Festus Aboagye (Retired) believes that peace agreements ahead of major elections in Ghana have not been enough to tackle the issue of violence in the electoral process. To him, Ghana must embrace a comprehensive, multi-faceted strategy that addresses the root causes of electoral conflict and violence and strengthens the foundations of its flawed democracy. He was commenting on the concerns raised by the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, against signing a peace pact ahead of the 2024 elections. Mr Nketia had enumerated some conditions that need to be fulfilled before the party will consider signing the Peace Pact being championed by the National Peace Council. Mr Nketia had said earlier that the party will not be part of any Peace Pact relating to the forthcoming national elections.
