South Dayi Member of Parliament (MP), Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, has raised concern about what he describes as the increasing politicization of Ghana's judiciary.
He warns that this trend, if left unchecked, could undermine the nation's democracy and erode public confidence in the judicial system.
Speaking on The KeyPoints with Alfred Ocansey, the MP argued that Ghana's judiciary should serve as an independent body that upholds justice rather than being influenced by political interests. "We have a serious problem in this country where judges are being appointed based on political considerations rather than merit," he stated. "When this happens, the judiciary ceases to be a neutral arbiter of justice and instead becomes an extension of the ruling government," he lamented.
Dafeamekpor further emphasized the principle of "innocent until proven guilty," highlighting the need for fair trials and humane treatment of accused persons.
