The Government of Ghana has officially announced the theme for the country's 68th Independence Anniversary: "Reflect | Review | Reset." This year's celebration will take place at Jubilee House, following President John Mahama's directive to reduce government expenditure amid ongoing economic challenges.
At a press briefing on Wednesday, February 12, Minister of Government Communications Felix Kwakye Ofosu confirmed the suspension of the rotational hosting policy, which had been introduced by former President Nana Akufo-Addo.
He explained that hosting the event in different regions incurred significant financial burdens, referencing last year's grand celebration in Ho, Volta Region, as an example. "This year's celebration will be modest and cost-effective, unlike the elaborate ceremonies traditionally held at Independence Square," Mr.
Kwakye Ofosu stated.
