Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga has asserted that permitting Ernest Yaw Kumi, the Member of Parliament for Akwatia, to address Parliament would be a sign of disrespect to the judiciary.
His remarks follow the Koforidua High Court's recent conviction of Kumi for contempt after he defied an interim injunction barring him from being sworn in as a legislator.
On Friday, February 21, the Majority blocked Kumi from speaking in the House.
Speaking on Eyewitness News on Citi FM, Ayariga stressed that Kumi must either surrender to the court for sentencing or appeal to overturn his conviction before participating in parliamentary proceedings.
