Parliament has announced heightened security measures ahead of President John Mahama's State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Thursday, February 27, 2025.

The intensified security protocols are aimed at ensuring a smooth and incident-free address.

Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga, while presenting the Business Statement for the week, disclosed that access to the chamber will be strictly controlled once the President arrives.

As part of the measures, Members of Parliament (MPs) are required to be seated by 9:15 a.m., after which National Security will restrict movement in and out of the chamber.  Security agencies are expected to enforce strict access controls, conduct thorough screenings, and deploy surveillance teams within the parliamentary precinct.
