Former President Akufo-Addo has called on African leaders to remain committed to democracy as it is the best form of governance.
The ex-president said in a post on his Facebook page that, there is no doubt in his mind that multi-party democracy is the only system of governance that can help African countries develop, not military rule.
According to the post, he said this on Thursday, 20th February 2025, when he delivered the Keynote address at the launch of "A Journey In Service", the long-awaited autobiography of one of the most extraordinary military statesmen, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, in Abuja, Nigeria. "I called on West African and African countries to remain resolute after years of hesitation, argument or experimentation on the consensus that multi-party democracy is the most suitable form of governance structure for our continent," he told the distinguished audience.
His participation in the event was at invitation of the Board of Trustees of the IBB Presidential Library Foundation.
