Economic Policy Adviser to the Vice-President, Dr Sharif Mahmud Khalid, has commended the government's decision to approve a 10% wage increase, describing it as a prudent move.

Speaking on the Channel One Newsroom on Thursday February 20, Khalid highlighted the careful consideration and strategic planning that went into the decision, emphasising the positive reception from labour unions. "What has been happening is that if you look at 10%, it tells you it's a prudent government.

We have a fund programme that we are managing.

So you don't need to jump the gun to do this, and the acceptance of labour unions to this 10% rise tells you the sort of embrace they've given it," Dr Khalid stated.
