President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, has ordered the finance minister to cut expenditure as much as he can.

According to him, it is imperative that they, even at the office of the president tighten their belt in order to heal the economy. "I told him [the Finance Minister], cut expenditure as much as you like.

Even we, as the Office of Government Machinery, cut as much of our budget as you like.

Because we all must make those sacrifices." He noted that there is a certain mistrust among Ghanaians because the political class hasn't been fair over the years but assured organized labour that as he has urged the citizens to tighten their belts, the same is what the political class will do. "A certain distrust of the political class has arisen because it's like when everybody else is tightening their belts, the political class is loosening its belt.
