The former General Secretary of the General Agriculture Workers Union (GAWU), Edward Kareweh, has hinted of worsening food insecurity in the country following the destruction to farmland by spillage of the Bagre Dam.  The livelihoods of farmers in the northern part of the country are under threat as the spillage from the Bagre Dam submerged their farms after weeks of drought, causing them to prematurely harvest.  Mr. Kareweh, in an interview with Starr News, noted that Ghana is not doing well when it comes to food production around this time, a situation that reflects what is on the market.  "When you go to the market to buy food, you hardly find them, and when you get them, their prices are too high. So, what it means is that it is going to exacerbate the already difficult situation that we have. It is not just about a shortage of food or food insecurity; it is about the target group. These are vulnerable people who are already living below the poverty line.
