The Ghana Army has announced that it will be hosting the 2nd edition of the International Defence Exhibition and Conference (IDEC) from Wednesday, August 28, 2024, to Thursday, August 29, 2024, in Accra. IDEC is a biennial platform for the Ghana Armed Forces aimed at bringing together relevant global players from the defence and security space to discuss issues of interest as well as showcase cutting-edge military technology. The maiden edition of the exhibition and conference was held in 2022 and was organised by the Ghana Navy in partnership with Great Minds Events Management Limited. Addressing the media in Accra on Thursday, August 22, 2024, the Deputy Chief Staff Officer, in charge of plans and policy at the Army headquarters, Brigadier General Yehuza Salifu, announced that the army would be the lead organiser for this year's event and would be partnered by Great Minds and their local partners, Gulf of Guinea Maritime Institute. He said that the event would bring leading security experts from across the world to Ghana to discuss security issues as well as share advancements in the fight against global threats to peace. "The two-day event will be under the theme 'Enhancing Regional Mechanisms for Addressing Contemporary Security Challenges in Africa'.
