The Ashanti South Region of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has launched second phase of Loss Reduction Project aimed at curbing power theft and addressing the persistent issue of meter shortages.

The initiative involves the installation of advanced smart prepaid meters equipped with sophisticated features to detect and prevent illegal tampering.

As part of the project, old postpaid meters are being replaced with new smart meters, which are designed to tackle illegal power consumption and reduce revenue losses.

The initiative aims to ensure that meters are more accessible to consumers, alleviating the long-standing challenges many customers face due to frequent shortages.
