The Ghana Catholic Bishops' Conference (GCBC) and the Christian Council of Ghana (CCG) have expressed deep disappointment over their exclusion from the upcoming National Education Forum scheduled to take place in Ho, Volta Region.
In a joint press statement, the two Christian organizations emphasized that their absence from such a crucial national discourse undermines the collaborative approach necessary for effective educational policies and reforms. "As key stakeholders in the education sector, particularly in providing quality education through our schools, we are perplexed by the omission of our contributions to discussions that are pivotal to the future of education in Ghana," the statement read.
The GCBC and CCG highlighted their long-standing commitment to the development of Ghana's education system, ensuring that their institutions serve all children, regardless of background or beliefs.
They called on the government, through the Ministry of Education, to reconsider their exclusion and extend invitations to all relevant bodies. "The national discourse on education requires the involvement of all stakeholders, including religious bodies, educators, and parents, whose input is vital in shaping policies that align with Ghanaian values and aspirations." The Christian bodies further stressed that leaving them out of such a critical forum is a disservice to the broader educational community and contradicts the principles of inclusivity and shared responsibility.
