Yakubu Tahidu, a staff member of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), has been charged by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) for offenses related to payroll fraud and corruption.
Five other individuals have also been charged for their involvement and the roles they played in committing the corruption-related offenses.
According to the OSP on X on Monday, February 17, 2025, the accused individuals; Yakubu Tahidu, Abdulai Abukari Sadic, Sammy Suuk, Mohammed Yusif Jay, Stafford Korletey Azudey-Barres, and Osman Issahaku are facing 17 counts of corruption, accused of causing financial loss to the state.
Providing details of the charges against the suspects, the OSP stated that Yakubu Tahidu, the primary suspect and a former teacher at Balogu M/A JHS in Tamale, Northern Region, continued to receive salaries as a teacher even after leaving the position and securing employment with MASLOC. "Yakubu Tahidu, formerly a teacher at Balogu M/A JHS, is accused of illegally receiving salaries after vacating his post to join the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC)," the OSP wrote.
