Correspondence from North East Region Tragedy has struck again at Walewale, as 45-year-old Bawa Sumaila was fatally shot by a police reinforcement team at the Mba Duraana's Palace.

The shooting incident by the police occurred around 5:54PM at the Chief Palace (Mba Duraana's Palace) at Walewale, where the police had come to take away the regional minister.

The incident occurred during a visit by North East Regional Minister, Tia Ibrahim, to brief the chief on the newly imposed curfew.

Upon their arrival at the chief's palace, they began firing warning shots which were live bullets to disperse the unarmed youth attempting to question the minister about the curfew.
